One of the events commemorating the seventh anniversary of the Rock & Roll Hotel last week included a Saturday show called simply “Old Punks Playing Acoustic Songs.” For a bunch of old punks—-John Stabb of Government Issue (with Derrick Baranowsky of Stabb’s current band, History Repeated); Kepi Ghoulie of Groovie Ghoulies, and Kevin Seconds of 7 Seconds—-they managed to create quite a mood.
Stabb read stories from his forthcoming bio, backed by Baranowsky on congo/guitar. Ghoulie took the second set, playing guitar and comic relief, backed by Seconds on drums. And Seconds wrapped up the night, crooning over old songs while backed by Ghoulie on drums.
