What are you doing over the Thanksgiving holiday? Basting a turkey? Guiding out-of-town relatives around the Mall? Getting out of town yourself?
None of the above: You’re hunkering down with the writing device of your choosing and forging in the smithy of your soul the uncreated conscience of Washington, D.C.
That is, you’re working on your submission to City Paper‘s second annual Fiction Issue.
As we announced last month, we’re looking for previously unpublished short stories that in some way or another—-preferably a surprising way—-shed light on what it means to live in the D.C. area. The deadline is fast approaching: Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. For some inspiration, take a look at our debut fiction issue, then send your own story to firstname.lastname@example.org.
