HO HO WHO: Jaime Meline and Michael Render, aka El-P and Killer Mike. Together they are Run the Jewels, whose self-titled album is one of the year’s most beloved, at least by people who readily embrace crotchety, late-30-something rappers.

JEWELS FOR ANY SEASON: “A Christmas Fucking Miracle” is the last track on Run the Jewels, and except for some sleigh bells, it’s otherwise got no connection to actual holiday music. This is not a problem. The video, released a few days ago, is a compendium of seasonal dysfunction, including awkward smiles in the portrait studio, a weird winter-sports talk show, and a Santa (played by Mike, natch) who helps a couple of kids bust up the room.

BUDDY IT’S WARM INSIDE: It looks like El-P and Mike enjoyed inhabiting the various tableaux, and fun has always been their stocking-stuffer. While you’re opening Run the Jewels’ big box of sociopolitical critique, there’s a sweet package of old-school silliness hung by the fire. Mike in that white wig and glasses? Downton Abbey needs that shit.

CHEER FACTOR: 8/10. Boom-bap hip-hop has always been great at ratcheting back its hardness to squeeze in some Christmastime goofs, and this clip is no exception. (See: Sean Price.)
