RAtheMC doesn’t sit still for too long. Following the news of her father’s untimely passing, she dropped a short but inspirational video for “Inception.” Now, for her new video, “Drive You Crazy,” RA focuses on herself and her creative friends.
Artists Maimouna Youssef, Reesa Renee, and Don Juan make appearances as director and singer Joe Maye combines clips of her performing in D.C. and elsewhere. At the beginning of the video, a slightly exasperated RA bemoans her elimination from the X Factor TV show, saying how she traveled to Miami and Rhode Island to audition, only to be cut in the end.
In a perceivable “F.U.” to the show’s judges, we see RA freestyle for hip-hop pundit Sway on his radio show. Then we’re reminded that she’s one of XXL‘s 15 DMV artists you need to know. (Um, I named her one of D.C.’s best underground rappers for MTV, but whatever.)
