Lamont Video, a video rental shop in Mount Pleasant, has closed its doors. Owners posted a sign on the door announcing that yesterday, March 24, was the store’s last day. Calls to the store were not answered. PoPville first shared a photo of the closing announcement.

With the closure of Lamont, just three video stores remain in operation in the District: Potomac Video on Connecticut Avenue NW in Chevy Chase, Woodner Video in the apartment complex on 16th Street NW, and Capitol Video Sales (which specializes in adult films and sex toys) on Connecticut Avenue NW in Dupont Circle. (Four years ago, there were eight.)

But even though the store has closed, don’t think you can just hold on to that copy of Hot Tub Time Machine: In the closing announcement, the store’s management asked customers to return movies through the drop off box in the “window of Lamont Cleaners next door.”
