Fat Trel fans have been eager to hear a full project from their favorite goon since he inked a deal with MMG, and the D.C. rapper has

responded with a steady stream of music in the lead-up to his next mixtape, Gleesh. On “Too Much,” he reworks Drake’s earnest standout track of the same name to great success. Where Drake emotes about the widening gap between himself and his family in the wake of his success, a somber Trel reflects on the loss of one of the mothers of his children. It’s powerful in its own right, simultaneously honest, painful, and beautiful.

Trel also released the Harry Fraud-produced “How U Feel,” which begins with just his voice and sparse keys that build to a haunting crescendo. Between the 808s and signature Fraud guitars, the rapper brags about his drug-dealing proficiency and how his money looks like someone’s mother put him in her will. The Rick Ross approach to song structure seems to have rubbed off on him and, from a purely musical standpoint, that’s a good thing.

Gleesh is out tomorrow. Get ready with both tracks below.
