Since establishing new focus and re-routing his career with last summer’s R.O.S.E., Phil Adé has stayed on top of the scene, releasing a consistent stream of music and videos in the following months. His latest video is for a rendition of Drake’s “The Language,” in which the Maryland rapper talks Drake-esque shit over hypnotic production. Both the original and this remix are about success, with both rappers simply being honest about what’s current in their lives. Though both do a lot of posturing (check Adé’s “Anywhere I go to rap, I’m the best in the spot” line), Adé comes off less passive aggressive, which is refreshing.
As his onslaught of new material continues, Adé seems to grow more confident with each release. It makes his 2012 hiatus seem even more distant.
