Wale posted a cartoon image of himself alongside Seinfeld characters Jerry, Elaine, George, and a troll-like Kramer (intentionally ugly, maybe?) to his Instagram account. The accompanying message, “Just wait on it,” seems to suggest that this is the cover art for his upcoming Album About Nothing. Is this why he decided to share this on Tuesday, Seinfeld’s 60th birthday?
Not quite. It’s to promote a new line of accessories created by Wale’s creative services company, Every Blue Moon, and Brooklyn wooden jewelry-maker Good Wood NYC. It’s a wise creative push for the album, which many hope will finally marry the conceptual brilliance he exhibited on the Mixtape About Nothing with his commercial success. The set of limited edition pins will be out on May 12, while the album is due out this fall, per Mr. Folarin himself.
The new endeavor and accompanying image should tide fans and critics over until we actually hear some music. Speaking of which, Wale says he’s worked with North Carolina rapper and longtime friend J. Cole and legendary producer DJ Premier on The Album About Nothing. Could this be the project that defines his career (in a good way)?
