Mondays in the summer usually suck, with the unbearable heat and the prospect of another four days in an over-air-conditioned office looming ahead. But thanks to the release of this kickass new song from the Mary Timony-fronted Ex Hex (which also includes Laura Harris of the Aquarium and Betsy Wright of Chain and the Gang), today isn’t so gloomy after all.

With its galloping, Iggy Pop-esque drums and bright, wailing blasts of guitar, “Beast”—-the second release from the band’s upcoming debut album Rips, slated to drop Oct. 7—-sounds like it belongs in a water park commercial, which is exactly what we need today.
