There were hearty helpings of love and respect shown for Willie Nelson at his sold-out 9:30 Club show last night. As Nelson and his band, which included his son Lukas and his sister Bobbie, wound themselves through Nelson’s storied catalog, near-deafening applause celebrated each one. Now 81, Nelson has revamped his songs a bit to better fit his vocal range, but even so, those songs remain as powerful as ever. He’s kept his wit, too—-several times throughout the show, he put on one of his trademark bandannas and, after a few songs, take it off and throw it into the crowd. Let’s hope he buys them in bulk.
