“Hello neighbors,” said Clutch lead singer Neil Fallon as the band hit the stage at Saturday’s 2014 Shindig Festival. Clutch may originally hail from Frederick and Germantown, Md., but it’s pretty obvious that their allegiance lies with D.C. Coming onstage to Chuck Brown‘s “We Need Some Money,” bassist Dan Maines sported a bright yellow Bad Brains shirt and drummer Jean-Paul Gaster wore a shirt from the Wall of Beard comic, which is drawn by 9:30 Club employee Ross Gorinson. In the crowd, though, a Clutch fan was a Clutch fan, the best one being a girl of maybe 10 years old singing every single word to every single song. D.C. pride and Maryland pride are two different animals, but Clutch made zip codes irrelevant from the first note.
