The Orwells are the latest iteration of a tried-and-tested rock ’n’ roll formula: Take a group of suburban kids, make them listen to plenty of classic rock, then have them write a dozen three-chord anthems. This particular quintet hails from the Chicago suburbs, and its debut album, Remember When, dropped the same year its members graduated high school. Bands like this may not hang around for long, but you can count on that same youthful excitement again and again, particularly when it comes to live shows. Cava Mezze Grill opens its sixth location, in Chinatown, today. Stop by from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Greek-inspired rice bowls, salads, and pitas are free (although donations are encouraged for nonprofits Microgreens and City Blossoms). A new feature of this location will be pita made from scratch and baked onsite from Cava’s stone-fired oven, thanks to a partnership with D.C. baker Optimal Grains. The new pita is preservative free and made from organic flour.
