Got stories? Let’s have ‘em. We’re running our third annual Fiction Issue on Jan. 8, 2015, so if you’d like to kick off 2015 with a little Washington City Paper ink, this is your chance.

The skinny: We’re looking for good, unpublished stories about the District that are no longer than about 2,000 words. (Will we pay for the stories we run? Yes. Barely, but yes.)

To get a sense of what we’ve liked in the past, check out the last two issues. But past performance is no guarantee of future results, as they say: We want to be surprised and impressed. We’re looking for fresh ideas, new voices, clever conceits. And great writing.

So dust off that draft and start polishing its prose. Send your unpublished story to fiction@washingtoncitypaper.com by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. And good luck.
