Cymbals Eat Guitars were back in town last night at DC9, kicking off their headlining tour in support of Lose, their third album. Full of the huge anthemic sound that CEG is known for, the new songs definitely have a sharper punk edge to them. In the low light of the packed room, audience heads nodded back and forth in time with the backbeat. Guitarist/vocalist Joe D’Agostino shredded and sang over it all, not just soloing, but making the guitar and his array of pedals into a line of melody that led the rest to the song’s bombastic conclusion.
