City Paper is not for tourists
Sweetgreen’s annual Sweetlife Festival returns to Merriweather Post Pavilion this May, and this year, you’ll be able to enjoy fancy salads, art installations, and live music for twice as long. For the first time in its six-year history, the festival will take place over the course of two days, May 30 and 31.
Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar is scheduled to headline the festival with Calvin Harris. Other big bookings include Billy Idol, the Weeknd, Pixies, Charli XCX, and Bleachers, as well as smaller bands like San Fermin and Alabama soul act St. Paul and the Broken Bones. District native GoldLink, Baltimore’s Sun Club, and D.C.-based dream pop trio the Walking Sticks serve as representatives of the local music scene.
Foodwise, expect snacks from Sweetgreen, as well as chefs Erik Bruner-Yang, José Andrés, and Nick Wiseman. More details, as well as the full music schedule, will be available in the coming weeks. General admission tickets for both days of the festival go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, but Sweetgreen Instagram followers can grab tickets on Thursday and users of its rewards app can start buying tickets on Wednesday. Proceeds benefit the “Sweetgreen in schools” program that teaches young people about the importance of healthy eating.
