You might not know Cary Brothers by name or face, but odds are, you know his music from TV shows like Smallville and movies like Garden State. Last night, Brothers played a lot of those tracks during his set at the 9:30 Club. This L.A.-by-way-of-Nashville singer-songwriter is a wonderful collection of dichotomies: a creator of sad love songs and electronic dance music (see his work with Tiësto), a lover of acoustic guitar and piano as well as AC/DC‘s “Thunderstruck” (which was his walk-on music, complete with light show, last night). That make-up of opposites makes Brothers stand out from the rest of the singer-songwriter pack.
Brothers’ latest release, Lovin’ On You is out now.
