Every couple of years, Bloomsbury Publishing’s wildly popular 33 1/3 series—a series of books that intensely examines and analyzes a landmark album—puts out an open call for book proposals. Naturally, hundreds submit proposals and Bloomsbury is transparent about the entire process, publishing the full list of book proposals, followed by the list of finalists who made the first cut.
Almost every time, someone (or multiple people!) proposes a Fugazi book, but to this date, there’s yet to be a 33 1/3 published on a Fugazi album. Until now. Yesterday, Bloomsbury announced the next 16 books in the 33 1/3 series. Among them? Fugazi’s landmark 1993 album In On The Kill Taker. The book, which will be written by former Washington City Paper contributor Joe Gross, will be published sometime in the spring of 2017, or beyond. About damn time.
