HO HO WHO: Virginia’s D.R.A.M. (he of the Beyoncé-approved “Cha Cha” fame) knows Christmas just ain’t Christmas without the appropriate soundtrack. His contribution, “#1HappyHoliday,” might result in the exchange of more, em, carnal gifts. ‘Tis always the season for those.

MISTLETOE CAN GET YOU MORE THAN A KISS: Gabe Niles, Bub Ruth, and Peter Cottontale unite to create a woozy blend of snare, kick, and sleigh bells. Meanwhile, D.R.A.M. delivers lyrics that would amount to the most sincere human resources violation imaginable if uttered at your company holiday party. “Now you can give me gifts underneath the tree/ But the greatest gift is if you’d spend the night with me,” he sings in a falsetto that’s half charm, half liquid courage. Don’t be fooled: Christmas is a lovers holiday, as well.

DO YOU WANT MORE?: “#1HappyHoliday” is quirky and alluring. Enough so, that it could warrant a Christmas album—or, at the very least, an EP. Stevie Wonder did it; so did the Temptations, Mariah Carey, Boyz ll Men, and Luther Vandross. D.R.A.M. may have yet to reach their pantheon of greatness, but I’m more than willing to bet that his fanbase would embrace his interpretation of the holiday spirit. (D.R.A.M.: if you’re reading this, there’s still time.)

CHEER FACTOR: 9/10. Sometimes, the best gifts aren’t found under the tree … or even given on Christmas day.
