Reston’s RDGLDGRN is an incredible mashup of some of the area’s best music genres: rap, rock, and go-go. On Friday, the group wrapped up its Robots tour at U Street Music Hall to a sold-out crowd that lit the place up with band-supplied glow sticks. It didn’t stop with glow sticks: The crowd happily danced the “chop“—an old go-go move—with lead singer GRN when he jumped into the crowd during “Chop U Down.” “This is a D.C. thing and we wanna take it wherever we go,” GRN said. And he means it: The group even showed Dave Grohl and the crowd how to do it during last year’s Foo Fighters show at Black Cat.
RDGLDGRN is about to start writing its next record, but if the group plays any live dates, be sure it’s on your calendar. It’s the best workout you’ll ever have.
