Never mind the balmy weather we have in store for this week: The best sign that spring is coming is the lineup for this year’s Kingman Island Bluegrass and Folk Festival, which was announced at a kickoff show on Thursday. The festival, now in its seventh year, will take place on Saturday, April 30 from noon to 8 p.m. on the little island situated in the Anacostia River. Per usual, the festival is a fundraiser for the Living Classrooms Foundation.
This year’s festival will be headlined by Brooklyn’s Spirit Family Reunion, L.A.’s Magic Giant, and Nashville’s Forlorn Strangers. Locals set to perform this year include Near Northeast, Bumper Jacksons, Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray, Second String Band, Jonny Grave, The Delafield String Band, and The Torches. Individual set times and stages haven’t been announced yet, but tickets—only $15!—are on sale now.
