This lady won last year.
. . . This morning, I was “competing” in the ACLI Capital Challenge against teams from Congress, the Executive, the Judiciary, and the Media. As a proud member of “Weekly But Willing,” I ran three miles in 25:15, and I didn’t even throw up in the Port-a-Potty marked “Print Media (No Job Security)” afterward! Plus, there was a pretty serious headwind from the half-point on, and other such excuses for my performance.
This relates to my beat not at all because by the end of the race, in which both men and women participated, the stack of handsome complimentary T-shirts in size small had been depleted! Why do they always run out of size small t-shirts? Sizism, etc. Also, on the drive home, my editor took the time to engage in a long discussion about the virtues of breastfeeding. Ah, the work, it never ends.
