Local politics is not my beat. But when you stick up a sign that says “foreclosure” on it, I perk up (even though foreclosure hasn’t been a particularly pressing issue in D.C.) The candidate named at the top of sign is Crystal Kim, who is running for an at-large council seat. She’s with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, as you can see above. Socialism has become the presidential campaign cycle’s latest dirty word (or maybe it was last week’s latest dirty word—-it’s hard to keep up). Considering the tiny placement of Kim’s name at the top of the sign, I only fear that stopping foreclosures and evictions will now be linked to the terrible s-word.
