From the Washington Business Journal:

  • Washington D.C.: one of every 1,246 households in default.
  • Virginia: one of every 493 households in default.
  • Maryland: one of every 774 households in default.
Of course, the numbers mean different things. The District may have had the lowest foreclosure rate, but it had the largest percentage increase from October 2007, up 177 percent. Meanwhile, Virginia had the highest foreclosure rate, but its month-to-month increase was minimal, according to the Washington Business Journal.
