The Obamas’ temporary home? The Willard Hotel at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Barack Obama and his family will be moving to Washington D.C. this weekend, according to the New York Times. The Obamas wanted to live in the Blair House, a government mansion near the White House, but the building was booked up until January 15, the traditional date it is made available to the incoming president. So the Obamas had to improvise in order to arrive in Washington in time for daughters Sasha and Malia to start school at Sidwell Friends right after winter break.
According to the Times, “The Obama team instead found a hotel with a suite large enough for the presidential family until they move to Blair House. Transition officials would not identify which hotel because of security concerns.” Where do we think they’ll be? The Willard? The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel? The Hay Adams? It should be apparent once the caravan of black Range Rovers starts rolling out.
