Park Morton is generally defined as Georgia Avenue on the west, Warder Street on the east, Lamont Street on the south, and Park Road on the north.
Park Morton in Park View is one of Washington’s four “New Communities,” a program which will transform some of the city’s most notorious public housing complexes into new mixed-use, mixed income areas, replacing old housing and allowing current tenants the opportunity to move into updated units.
In December, the city began demolishing some buildings to make way for the $700 million Northwest One New Community, by the intersection of North Capitol Street and New York Avenue. Around that time, there were reports that few developers were interested in taking on Park Morton. But today, the District announced that three teams have submitted proposals for the site. Those include:
Pennrose Properties, LLC FM Atlantic, LLC Harrison Adaoha, LLC
The Neighborhood Development Company, LLC The Community Builders, Inc.
- Landex Corp.
- Warrenton Group
- Spectrum Management
