Last Friday, the Arlington County Board approved a proposal to spend $3 million on a planning study for a five mile Columbia Pike Streetcar line. According to the Washington Business Journal, the train would run from the Pentagon City Metro station to the Skyline development in Bailey’s Crossroads. The cost of construction—-$120 million—-is expected to be shared between Arlington County and Fairfax County. “The study will refine the stop locations — currently planned every third of a mile — and will more accurately estimate construction costs. It is also expected to identify funding sources,” according to the newspaper.
