The official opening—-the usual deal with the mayor, the local councilmember (Bowser in this case), and some ribbon begging for a slice—-for the Residences at Georgia Avenue will be held tomorrow. This building, located roughly four blocks north of the Petworth Metro station, has 72 units of affordable housing. The Neighborhood Development Corporation started construction on the building in 2007. The group’s website states that the seven-floor highrise “will feature 36 two-bedroom apartments and 36 one-bedroom apartments averaging approximately 840 and 650 square feet respectively.” A Yes! Organic Market is also opening this summer on the ground floor, according to DCMud.
