In Washington D.C., foreclosure is not a valid reason to evict a tenant. But elsewhere around the country, numerous unsuspecting tenants have been evicted from their properties after their landlords defaulted on loans. RealtyTrac, which monitors foreclosures, is now launching a service to prevent those kinds of surprises.  The service, which costs 24.95 annually, “will also allow potential renters to search the company’s database of 1.8 million foreclosure and bank-owned properties to research properties they’re considering renting. The service sends e-mail alerts to subscribers warning them immediately of any foreclosure activity on a specific property,” according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
