As I wrote about last week, the city plans to tear down Gage-Eckington Elementary School, which closed last year, and build a park on its grounds. Community members met on Wednesday to review plans for the LeDroit Park space. According to local ANC commissioner John Salatti, the next planning meeting for the park is this coming Tuesday during the monthly LeDroit Park Civic Association gathering, which will start at 7:00 at Florida Avenue Baptist Church at 6th & U NW (entrance is in the rear of the church). And there are more gatherings scheduled during May.
