About a month ago, I wrote a series of blog posts on 11th Street in Columbia Heights—-the cuter, more charming, but still coming of age sibling to Columbia’s Heights’ 14th Street.

At that point, we were looking at a few upcoming changes: A new wine bar called Room 11 opening at the corner of Lamont Street., a 6,000-square-foot gastro-pubby establishment one block up, and a possible yoga/martial arts studio above it.

Now Prince of Petworth has the latest update on the area: A new restaurant will be opening near the corner of 11th and Monroe Streets. “The alcohol application says it will become a new tavern with American fare. There will be a 75 person occupancy with a possible sidewalk cafe and perhaps a DJ at times,” he writes. Last note: “The trade name is Local 11.” That might create a bit of confusion, as one commenter suggests: “I advise another name. Room 11 is opening just down the street. How about some originality?”
