Whoever walks in the front door of the Whites’ house in Trinidad this evening is going to be very happy with what they see.

There’ll be no dust-laden hardwood floor looking tired from years of use and no love. There’ll be no dull look to the floor, no neglect, just a bright and shiny wood floor.

That’s because Renee White and daughters Alexus White, 8, and Cassandra White, 13, are going to be buffing those surfaces all day long. They went to the D.C. Home Depot this morning to stock up on “Orange Glow” cleaner and a mop. “We did the floors 20 years ago,” says 40-year-old Renee White. “Now we’re just putting a fresh face on them.”
