Remember that renovated and recently re-opened park at 14th and Girard Streets? Well Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham has introduced legislation to rename it “President Barack Hussein Obama Park.”
The 4 million rehabbing job was launched earlier this year, after much of the old park was demolished in 2008. “The park features a new rubberized basketball court surface, new game tables, new landscaping, two bathrooms and a play fountain,” according to a press release.
The renaming efforts apparently stemmed from a poll taken on Saturday by local residents visiting the park, which had re-opened the day before.
Would this be the first public spot named after Obama in Washington D.C.? It would be, right?
