Earlier this week, Housing Counseling Services in Adams Morgan announced that it’s now holding foreclosure clinics once a week given the increase in client demand.
Obviously, Washington D.C.’s still not overwhelmed like some places, which have so many abandoned homes sales prices are averaging $10,000.
But today, RealtyTrac reported that foreclosures had jumped 39.46 percent between May and June 2009 in DC. The total number of filings was 417.
Overall nationally, the total number of foreclosures rose 4.6 percent. The July DC report from last year shows there were 1,175 foreclosures from the second quarter of 2008 (so a three-month average of 391).
Foreclosure prevention clinics will be held at Housing Counseling Services at 2410 17th Street, N.W.:
