So, let’s get one thing clear first: Vida Fitness does plan to move into the U Street building currently housing Results Gym.
Vida’s owner David von Storch owns Results’ U Street building. He’s renovating it, not renewing Results’ lease, and taking over the current occupants’ space asap.
He still says he believes any comment would be “premature,” according to his spokesperson Matt Hagan (this morning). And Hagan’s same line appeared in The Dupont Current article that I blogged about earlier this week. But forget all that. Check out von Storch’s bio:
“David owns the building at 1612 U Street, NW, which is the home of Bang Salon, Café 1612 and will be converted to a flagship VIDA Fitness in 2011.”
He said roughly the same thing to a small crowd at Wednesday’s Dupont ANC meeting, according to commissioner Will Stephens.
With his lawyer and architect in tow, von Storch showed off the building’s design and answered questions. The three-floor addition is actually coming to the side of the building, the open parking area currently between bar Stetson’s and Results’ building.
The Dupont Circle Conservancy gave the addition a big thumbs up: “They were very positive about it,” says Stephens. ” It’s the most positive I’ve ever heard them describe a proposed concept design.”
The ANC supported the concept as well.
