There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Since last weekend, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” has been filming at two locations in the Washington area. One do-gooder family from Hyattsville is getting a new house, and The Fishing School, an after-school program in Northeast D.C., is also getting a new facility.
After several days of construction, the homes are likely nearing completion. No better time for a photo op—-and what a photo op is scheduled!
U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis will be visiting The Fishing School this afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m., according to an announcement sent out this morning.
“U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will highlight the benefits of energy efficient building and steps Americans can take now to reduce the energy use in their homes.U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will discuss the importance of after-school programs like The Fishing School. U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis will underscore the importance of safety and green jobs in construction.”
