City Paper is not for tourists
Another Madoff property
I know (I pray) that summer (the brief period we experienced) has not already dissipated entirely into fall. But the recent temperature drop has me whining like a pissy old lady.
So let’s have a beach story shall we! Bernie Madoff‘s Hamptons property is going on sale this week for $8.75 million. It sits on 1.2 acres “on the southeastern tip of Long Island,” according to the Associate Press.
But what the Press wants to fixate on is how “it’s not that palatial.”
“At 3,014 square feet, the home is cottage-size by superrich standards. Its faded furnishings look as old as Mr. Madoff’s epic fraud. There’s no garage. Not even a walk-in closet.”
