4:33 is prit-teeeeeee exciting

Back in June, a Shaw woman got in touch with me “to investigate two mysteries connected with a [vacant] lot located at 4th and P ST and New Jersey, NW.” Mystery #1: She believed the property wasn’t being taxed at its proper value. Mystery #2: Were the billboards on the vacant lot legal?

I took a pass on the story, which had already received coverage in the D.C. Examiner. But apparently, the lady on her mission completed it. Last week, the city removed four Clear Channel billboards at 4th Street NW; P Street, NW; 3rd Street NE; K Street, NE, after people had been complaining “for decades” about them, according to a city press release.

And given my tipster’s zeal, it’s not so surprising that other residents in the neighborhood made sure to capture all the action on video.

Anyway, I finally wrote about it!
