Super-lobbyist couple Anthony and Heather Podesta are nothing if not a Washington presence: Their art collection has long been the subject of breathless admiration, their parties the hottest ticket in town. The pair saw their star rise even further when Democrats took back the White House—they’ve raised millions for liberal politicians, Anthony’s brother John oversaw the Obama transition, and Heather was charmingly profiled in the Washington Post. Last fall, they decided they could do without one of their playhouses: A six-bedroom, five-car-garage estate just across from the Marriott Wardman hotel, at 2651 Woodley Park Road. Via Blockshopper, they finally unloaded the house on March 16th, for $1.828 million—just $700,000 shy of what they’d been asking.
Apparently, there was really no hurry; at that point it was only a second home anyway. The couple had picked up another residence, at 2438 Belmont Road NW, for $3.9 million in 2006 (right around the time when they also sold their home in Fairfax County).
