There one day, gone the next: Windows have gone dark at the furniture store Design Within Reach at 1838 Columbia Road. According to the store manager for the Georgetown location, some of the capacity lost in Adams Morgan will be restored as the M Street spot expands into a larger space next door at 3306 M Street, where Ligne Roset used to be.
It’s a bothersome vacancy, what with Blockbuster also vacating its large space across the street. And the two newest things to land in Adams Morgan, Pitazzi and Snap Creperie, look like a push from solid goods into food.
Meanwhile, could D.C. furniture retail be concentrating itself into 14th Street’s furniture row and now Georgetown, with the soon-to-arrive CB2 store?
