Dark, dark Sherman Circle.

It’s always a mixed blessing when tragedies give rise to improvements. But Petworth residents might enjoy some degree of increased safety as a result of the murder of Catholic University student Neil Godleski: Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton has asked the National Park Service to install lights in Sherman Circle, where Godleski was randomly shot on August 22. There are lights in nearby Grant Circle, as well as parks closer to downtown like Logan Circle, but they hadn’t made their way as far north as Crittenden Street. She estimates it’ll cost $452,000.

Thanks, Eleanor!
