Despite being the truest, bluest parts of Virginia, Alexandria and Arlington still feel more conservative and Conservative than the District’s dens of hippies. It’s more than a perception. Based on a National Journal survey of 300 Hill staffers, 62 percent of Republicans live in the Old Dominion, while half of Democrats live in the District. And I don’t think it’s because they get paid higher salaries.
