As promised, I went long this week on Eric Colbert, the architect who’s probably played the biggest role in shaping the apartment and condo buildings of the 2000s. Essentially, I try to explain the incentives in favor of the kind of quality-but-not-striking architecture we see in the District, a form that Colbert’s mastered. To show just how ubiquitous the firm has become, I put together a map of its projects (many of which are renovations rather than new construction). For precise addresses, here’s a list.
