After being essentially destroyed by a 2013 fire, Frager’s Hardware is set to come back to its original spot on Capitol Hill, where it’ll be joined by 40 to 50 condominium units and two retail spaces, according to Urban Turf.
Perseus Realty and Javelin19 closed Tuesday on the sale of the lot at 1101-1117 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Frager’s has signed a 25-year lease, and the development team hopes to attract a restaurant and coffee shop too. The project, named 1101 Penn, plans condominiums geared toward larger units in the two-bedroom range, Urban Turf reports.
In September 2014, Roadside Development purchased the century-old store that burned for redevelopment. But that deal fell through earlier this year, Washington Business Journal reported. Perseus Realty recently finished a boutique condo building at 1827 Adams Mill Road NW.
Frager’s currently operates out of four temporary locations.
