I’ll be blogging all day about the Capital Food Fight, the annual fundraiser for D.C. Central Kitchen (DCCK) held last night at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

Roberto Donna was standing alone in the hallway outside the main battle and tasting area for this year’s Food Fight. He had a large cooler at his feet. He said it was empty. The Bebo Trattoria chef and owner had already passed out 35 pounds of tortellini, and he was leaving. It was 7:35 p.m. The event had been going for only 95 minutes. It would continue for another two hours.

Donna blamed his early exit on the basil cream sauce that smothered his pasta.

When people heard that he was serving cream sauce, Donna said, “the word spread like a disease.” “Everybody loves cream sauce.”
