I love buying friends a drink. It tightens the bond between us, loosens our lips, and leads to man-hugs, which is probably a good thing, though I guess I should ask The Sexist about that. Now I just learned about a site, BuyYourFriendADrink.com, where you can, well, buy your buds some booze in absentia. It’s probably a guaranteed-to-fail business plan, given you can’t be there to share the libation, but I like the idea of my friends having a drink on me.
The only real problem I see with the site is its D.C. bar options. There aren’t many places here that I’d really want to send my friends to. I might consider buying someone a drink at Ceviche or Vinoteca or Mie N Yu, but I’d really rather buy them one at Bar Pilar or PS 7’s or Cork Wine Bar.
In other words, nice idea, needs more work.
