In what must surely be a sign of a tight economy and tight credit markets—-and not the lack of imagination of Top Chef contestants—-A Hamburger Today is reporting that Season 4 challenger Richard Blais is opening a fussy burger joint in Atlanta called Flip Burger Boutique. Some of the menu items sound considerably more conceptual/upscale than the offerings at another burger joint opened by a Top Chef wannabe, Spike Mendelsohn‘s Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill.
Check out some of these Blais combos:
- Philly + Cheese Whiz foam + green peppers ($7)
- Country fried + pimento cheese + pickled okra ($7)
- Deluxe + foie gras + Wagyu beef + shaved truffle ($24)
A Burger Boutique? Cheese Whiz foam? I think someone’s seriously overcompensating for opening a burger joint.
