Yesterday, on the way home from the airport, I stopped for lunch at Bombay Indian Restaurant, my current fave for Subcontinental cuisine. The first thing I noticed when entering the humble strip-center operation was that its buffet table was gone. I figured I knew why.

I asked the waiter where the buffet was. He smiled in the same way that IT managers smile at poor, stupid computer illiterates. He raised three fingers in front of his face and said that the buffet had been history for as many months now.

“Too much waste?” I asked.

“There was so much waste,” he said. “You just order off the lunch menu now.”

So, my question to you, readers: Is this just an anomaly or are we seeing the next cutback measure for local restaurants?
