While driving down Connecticut Avenue yesterday, I noticed the paper in the windows at Dino and the hand-made sign announcing that the rustic Italian restaurant was “freshing up for your comfort.”
I had to know just how comfortable I’d soon be at Dino, so I emailed chef/owner Dean Gold. The sign, it seems, was more of a tease. Writes Gold:
Just fixing our water damage from January. With the inaugration, restaurant week, dining out for life and the general difficulty of getting things done in DC, it took a long time. The main bit of change is that we corrected some hidden defects in the HVAC. There were two abandoned ducts in ceiling robbing us of about 33% of our heating and cooling. So for the cost of a few ducts and a few hours of my HVAC guys time, we were able to fix it while we made the other repairs. We did serve around it as the downstairs dining room was only blocked for 3 days. My total cost was about $600.00.
