Ricardo Thornton has had a bit of a rough morning. A friend of his was having trouble with her arm. The medication that she got after a hospital visit wasn’t easing the strain that she was feeling.
So at around 11:10 a.m., Thornton and his ailing companion arrived at the Washington Hospital Center emergency room via a bus from Brookland. The last time they’d done this, they had to wait about an hour and a half for someone to treat her, what with arm strain not exactly rising to the top of the ER urgency list.
The crisis within the crisis is that Thornton hadn’t eaten anything this morning. So the choice of pulling some peanut M&Ms out of the vending machine wasn’t a difficult one. “M&Ms, man. You can’t go wrong,” he remarked when asked about the purchase.
