Tomorrow will mark the (temporary?) release of Duck-Rabbit beer in the D.C. area. Alexandria’s Rustico will have several of the brewery’s major product lines available: Amber, Brown, Milk Stout, Imperial Stout, and, on cask, Rabbit Porter. The brewery, based in Farmville, North Carolina, is a big regional player in states to our south, but has yet to make an impression in the nation’s capital. Former philosophy professor Paul Philippon, a self-described “dark beer specialist,” founded Duck-Rabbit in 2004. The name, according to the brewery’s website, comes from a trick image found in a philosophical treatise by Ludwig Wittgenstein: it can look like a duck or a rabbit depending on the viewer’s perspective. Intrigued? Then maybe we’ll see you at Rustico tomorrow night. If you can’t make it, check back here for an official debrief later this week.
